VES proposed a redesigned 12.25″ PDC bit incorporating VION™ and HYDRA™ technologies to optimize hydraulics and durability when drilling through reactive shale while effectively mitigating bit balling. The VION-519 steel body PDC bit set a new ROP record of 36.9 m/hr and drilled 686m, increasing ROP 3.1% over the previous record.
